Starfield Shattered Space release date revealed, vehicles update arrives

It’s been months since Bethesda announced that Starfield Shattered Space would be launching in the fall of 2024, and just as long (or that’s at least how it feels) since it teased us about the upcoming Starfield vehicles update. But now, thanks to footage shown at Gamescom 2024, we now know that Starfield Shattered Space is arriving on September 30, 2024.

Not only do we now know when we’ll get to visit Va’Ruun’Kai and the mythical Dazra City, but Gamescom 2024 also gave us an extended gameplay trailer for the Starfield vehicles update which is launching tonight, August 20, 2024.

The footage revealed that the buggy/rover we were teased about in a previous Starfield update is in fact called the REV-8.

This buggy is, unsurprisingly, a fantastic solution to exploring large planetary surfaces. Not only is it an all-terrain vehicle shown to climb rocky edifices just as well as it can speed along vast expanses of flat earth, but it comes equipped with a series of thrusters for boosting, gaining air-time, and making enormous leaps over canyons and crevasses.

But that’s not all. Confirming the details of a previous and alleged 4chan leak, Starfield REV-8s come equipped with an array of deadly weaponry, allowing you to assault pirates and rabid Spacers as and when you come across them. The trailer demonstrated some truly explosive weaponry at your disposal, and even came with a compartment on the back for Vasco to tag along in. The only thing we didn’t see, which would be an awesome addition, was if Vasco could shoot at enemies while in the vehicle.

Fortunately, it won’t be long before we know for certain because, as already mentioned, the vehicles update launches tonight, so be sure to give them a swing and let us know what you think about the new Starfield vehicles over in our Starfield forum.
