Are Starfield vehicles on the verge of release?

Starfield vehicles could arrive in the next patch, and may even be available to verified creators already, claims 4chan (grab your salt).

Are Starfield vehicles on the verge of release?

UPDATE: Only a few weeks after the “leaked” screenshot, another 4chan post released what appears to be gameplay footage of a land buggy in action. In the clip, the land vehicle can be seen driving at high speeds across hilly terrain.

Original post follows:

“Buggies are coming in the next Starfield Update” a 4chan user has claimed following the leak of a never-before-seen screenshot picturing a Starfield vehicle parked on a hill, with what could be a vehicle weapon strapped to the top.

Ever since the 1.11.33 Starfield update trailer, fans have known that vehicles were an upcoming feature. Unfortunately, Bethesda has been incredibly tight-lipped on when these vehicles might arrive, how they might work, and how they might be customized or moved from planet to planet.

According to a supposed leaker on 4chan (and yes, 4chan is not exactly renowned for its credibility) vehicles are due to arrive in the next Starfield update, which, if this proves true, could see vehicles arrive as early as August 21, 2024.

The “leaker” claims that buggies will come in three variants: an open-top version, an enclosed version, and a variant that can carry Vasco. While we have no hard evidence to believe this claim is real, the claim does go into some considerable detail about other details which have not been previously discussed by Todd Howard or Bethesda.

Apparently, these new buggies – referred to as ATVs – can be customized, but only so far as their paint jobs. The leaker also claims that the upcoming vehicles have weapon options: a laser and a rocket launcher. The screenshot that was provided alongside the leak (seen above) suggests the presence of a weapon module mounted to the top of the buggy.

However, the most surprising claims from the leaker are that the buggy will simply spawn next to your ship once you’ve purchased an ATV from a dedicated merchant (no ship parts are being added to transport the vehicle), and that the leaker in question has ‘stress test[ed]’ the vehicles.

If this is true, it suggests that vehicles are or were available to verified Starfield modders. “ATVs are invulnerable can get fusrodah to space and be fine.”

The leaker in question, according to Redditor Adept_Ad5465 who tracked the source down, says “the ATVs actually work well and are not buggy like Skyrim horses.”

While we can’t say for certain if this leak is genuine, the screenshot in the ‘leak’ does bear a close resemblance to the official tease from May 1, 2024. So, maybe the leak is real?

Irrespective of the leak’s authenticity, it was pretty likely that Starfield vehicles were going to be included in the next Starfield update, which we expect to see by mid-August given Bethesda’s goal of a six week update cadence. This would coincidentally see the release of a major feature before the rollout of the first Starfield DLCStarfield Shattered Space
