Starfield Scavenging skill overview

The Starfield Scavenging skill is a tier 1 skill in the Social skill tree. It, as with all Starfield skills, has 4 ranks, beginning at rank 1 and ending at rank 4. In order to progress up the Scavenging skill tree, you will need to complete various skill challenges related to the skill in question, and increase your Starfield level to earn skill points. Each rank requires a skill point to unlock.

The Scavenging Skill allows you to find extra credits, ammo and aid items when searching containers.

In Starfield you will often be searching containers and this skill will give you extra items that you wouldn’t have gotten without this skill.

In-game Scavenging skill description

There are those who can find just about anything, and their success is usually dependent on knowing how, and where, to look.

The Scavenging skill has the following ranks and stats:

1		There's a chance you'll find extra credits when searching containers.	Loot 25 containers.
2		There's a chance you'll find extra ammo when searching containers.	Loot 75 containers.
3		There's a chance you'll find extra aid items, like Med Packs or chems when searching containers.	Loot 150 containers.
4		Tracked resources will get highlighted when using the hand scanner.	You have mastered this skill.

How to unlock Scavenging console command

If you want to add the Scavenging Starfield skill to your character without increasing your Starfield level or expending a skill point, simply open the Starfield console command window with the apostrophe (‘) or tilde (~) key and enter the following command:

player.addperk 0028B853

By repeating the player.addperk 0028B853 command, you can bypass the Scavenging rank-up challenge and unlock the next rank. Entering the above command four times will unlock the rank 4 Scavenging skill.

To remove the Scavenging skill, you can use the following command:

player.removeperk 0028B853
