Starfield Engine Systems skill overview

The Starfield Engine Systems skill is a tier 2 skill in the Tech skill tree. It, as with all Starfield skills, has 4 ranks, beginning at rank 1 and ending at rank 4. In order to progress up the Engine Systems skill tree, you will need to complete various skill challenges related to the skill in question, and increase your Starfield level to earn skill points. Each rank requires a skill point to unlock.

This skill increases your ship’s top speed, as you rank up this skill you will be able to boost for longer, with a reduce cooldown time. Once you reach rank 4 of this skill when boosting all enemies will disengage you and will only be able to reacquire you once you stop boosting.

Given the frequency of ship based combat and flight this skill would be a great idea to invest in as it has multiple applications, increasing speed and proving useful in combat.

In-game Engine Systems skill description

Space is both vast and dangerous, and the ability to push a ship’s engine to increase speed can be done safely and effectively, with the right training.

The Engine Systems skill has the following ranks and stats:

1		Your ship's top speed is increased by 10%.	Boost 5 times with your spaceship while in combat.
2		Ship boosts last longer and the cooldown is shorter.	Boost 25 times with your spaceship while in combat.
3		Your ship's top speed is increased by 20%.	Boost 50 times with your spaceship in combat.
4		While boosting, all enemies disengage the player and can only reacquire them as a target after the player stops boosting.	You have mastered this skill.

How to unlock Engine Systems console command

If you want to add the Engine Systems Starfield skill to your character without increasing your Starfield level or expending a skill point, simply open the Starfield console command window with the apostrophe (‘) or tilde (~) key and enter the following command:

player.addperk 002CE2DE

By repeating the player.addperk 002CE2DE command, you can bypass the Engine Systems rank-up challenge and unlock the next rank. Entering the above command four times will unlock the rank 4 Engine Systems skill.

To remove the Engine Systems skill, you can use the following command:

player.removeperk 002CE2DE
