Starfield Deception skill overview

The Starfield Deception skill is a tier 2 skill in the Social skill tree. It, as with all Starfield skills, has 4 ranks, beginning at rank 1 and ending at rank 4. In order to progress up the Deception skill tree, you will need to complete various skill challenges related to the skill in question, and increase your Starfield level to earn skill points. Each rank requires a skill point to unlock.

When engaging in piracy, ships that are stronger than you will surrender more easily, and enemy contraband scans have reduced effectiveness. Rank 1 of this skill makes ships that are only marginally stronger than you surrender, with the higher ranks of this skill making even stronger ships surrender to you.

If you wish to adopt a space-pirate playstyle, this skill will allow you to gain extra loot without fighting, and potentially take over enemy vessels more easily.

In-game Deception skill description

Smuggling and piracy are both immoral and highly illegal, and considered plagues upon the Settled Systems. But certain undercover work may require a certain criminal skillset.

The Deception skill has the following ranks and stats:

1		Ships 10% stronger will automatically surrender to piracy demands. Enemy contraband scans are 10% less effective.	Convince 5 ships to surrender.
2		Ships 20% stronger will automatically surrender to piracy demands. Enemy contraband scans are 20% less effective.	Convince 10 ships to surrender.
3		Ships 30% stronger will automatically surrender to piracy demands. Enemy contraband scans are 30% less effective.	Convince 20 ships tp surrender.
4		Ships 50% stronger will automatically surrender to piracy demands. Enemy contraband scans are 50% less effective.	You have mastered this skill.

How to unlock Deception console command

If you want to add the Deception Starfield skill to your character without increasing your Starfield level or expending a skill point, simply open the Starfield console command window with the apostrophe (‘) or tilde (~) key and enter the following command:

player.addperk 002CFCAF

By repeating the player.addperk 002CFCAF command, you can bypass the Deception rank-up challenge and unlock the next rank. Entering the above command four times will unlock the rank 4 Deception skill.

To remove the Deception skill, you can use the following command:

player.removeperk 002CFCAF
