Starfield Leadership skill overview
The Starfield Leadership skill is a tier 3 skill in the Social skill tree. It, as with all Starfield skills, has 4 ranks, beginning at rank 1 and ending at rank 4. In order to progress up the Leadership skill tree, you will need to complete various skill challenges related to the skill in question, and increase your Starfield level to earn skill points. Each rank requires a skill point to unlock.
This skill increases how fast companions will gain affinity. As this skill is ranked it will increase health and carrying capacity of companions and gives companions the ability to heal you. Once this skill is fully ranked companions have a chance to recover from a downed state. Companions can be very useful in Starfield and this skill brings a number of buffs to your companions such as allowing them to be more helpful in combat.
In-game Leadership skill description
Teamwork is the cornerstone of galactic survival, and nothing motivates a team more than a trained, decisive leader.
The Leadership skill has the following ranks and stats:

Companions gain affinity 25% faster. Sprint 1000 meters with an active follower. 2 
Companions have 50 more health and 50kg more carrying capacity. Sprint 2500 meters with an active follower. 3 
Companions will occasionally heal you when you get low health. Sprint 5000 meters with an active follower. 4 
Doubles the bonuses of Combat and Physical Crew Skills on Companions. Companions have a chance to pick themselves up from a downed state. You have mastered this skill.
How to unlock Leadership console command
If you want to add the Leadership Starfield skill to your character without increasing your Starfield level or expending a skill point, simply open the Starfield console command window with the apostrophe (‘) or tilde (~) key and enter the following command:
player.addperk 002C890D
By repeating the player.addperk 002C890D command, you can bypass the Leadership rank-up challenge and unlock the next rank. Entering the above command four times will unlock the rank 4 Leadership skill.
To remove the Leadership skill, you can use the following command:
player.removeperk 002C890D
