Starfield Research Methods skill overview

The Starfield Research Methods skill is a tier 1 skill in the Science skill tree. It, as with all Starfield skills, has 4 ranks, beginning at rank 1 and ending at rank 4. In order to progress up the Research Methods skill tree, you will need to complete various skill challenges related to the skill in question, and increase your Starfield level to earn skill points. Each rank requires a skill point to unlock.

This skill lowers the cost of crafting items and researching projects. Rank 4 will make sudden developments during research more common.

This skill is a great skill to have as it will crafting and researching much easier by lowering the cost of both significantly.

By skillfully employing both new and time tested methods, a researcher may complete projects faster, and even gain unexpected insights.

The Research Methods skill has the following ranks and stats:

1		Resources required to craft items and complete research projects is reduced by 10%.	Craft 5 unique food, drinks, drugs, weapon mods, or equipment mods.
2		Resources required to craft items and complete research projects is reduced by 20%.	Craft 10 unique food, drinks, drugs, weapon mods, or equipment mods.
3		Resources required to craft items and complete research projects is reduced by 40%.	Craft 15 unique food, drinks, drugs, weapon mods, or equipment mods.
4		Sudden developments during research are twice as common. Resources required to craft items and complete research projects is reduced by 60%.	You have mastered this skill.

How to unlock Research Methods console command

If you want to add the Research Methods Starfield skill to your character without increasing your Starfield level or expending a skill point, simply open the Starfield console command window with the apostrophe (‘) or tilde (~) key and enter the following command:

player.addperk 002C555C

By repeating the player.addperk 002C555C command, you can bypass the Research Methods rank-up challenge and unlock the next rank. Entering the above command four times will unlock the rank 4 Research Methods skill.

To remove the Research Methods skill, you can use the following command:

player.removeperk 002C555C
