Starborn Guardian overview

The Starfield Starborn Guardian is a unique Starfield ship that you can get for free by completing the main quest, and stepping through Unity, whereupon you will awaken aboard your very own Starborn Guardian as its Starborn pilot. The Starborn Guardian is unique in that it cannot be modified or customized with Starfield ship components whatsoever. This is largely in part due to the alien nature of the ship, as evidenced by its existing modules.

The Starborn Guardian comes equipped with two unique weapons systems: Solar Flare Beam, and Gravity Torpedo. There is only one “section” to the ship: the cockpit, which consists of a very large and open area around the cockpit seat, and two side passage which lead to cargo storage areas.

Without a question, this ship’s default configuration is one of the most powerful, and makes it this ship suitable as an end-game ship.

As you cannot customize the Starborn Guardian, the ship has a mass of 348, and a credit value of 65625.

Starborn Guardian stats

A ship’s hull determines how much damage it can take before it is destroyed. The Starborn Guardian has a hull of 649, and can be viewed as a white bar in the bottom-right corner of your screen when flying your ship in space.

The Starborn Guardian has the following stats:

Ship class: A

Reactor power: 22

Crew capacity: 5

Gravity jump distance:  30 LY

Shield: 630

The Starborn Guardian comes with a cargo capacity of 950. As you cannot customize this ship, you may want to use the Starborn Guardian as your main fighting ship. Alternatively, there is a cargo trick you can employ for now:

  • Make the ship with the largest cargo capacity your home ship and transfer all resources over to it.
  • Switch back to the Starborn Guardian and make it your home ship.
  • Even though the cargo capacity will be exceeded, it will transfer over to your Starborn Guardian without penalty.

Doing this allows you to bypas the cargo limit, at the cost of being unable to add anything to your ship unless you repeat the above technique. Otherwise, you can simply drop whatever you don’t want to carry into the spacious cockpit of the Starborn Guardian and fly away, though this will result in some clutter, and potentially FPS issues should you drop too many items.

Can you steal the Starfield Starborn Guardian before New Game Plus?

If you’ve read this far, you already know that you receive the Starborn Guardian for completing the game and progressing to your first version of the Starfield New Game Plus mode. What you might not know is that, at the time of writing, you can actually steal this ship for yourself in your first playthrough. However, there is a caveat.

To steal the Starborn Guardian, you need to be incredibly light on your feet. There is a window of just a few seconds where you can get in and steal the ship, as the Starborn soldiers are emerging from within. Don’t waste your time fighting the enemies, instead, just dart for the entrance on the side of the craft and press the interaction button to enter. From there, you can sit behind the controls and leave the Starborn behind without a mode of transport.

Once you’re onboard your stolen Starborn Guardian, you can take it to a ship technician to register it as your own. As it’s such a futuristic piece of equipment, the registration cost is high, and you can’t make any further changes to the ship. Still, compared to spacecraft like the Frontier and Razorleaf, this is one of the best ships you can get in the game, so it’s worth trying to access it as early as possible.

Starfield Starborn Guardian ship ID

If you want to get the Starborn Guardian for free and without hunting it down, your best bet is to use a Starfield console command to spawn the ship you nearby.

To get the Starborn Guardian for free, open the console command window and input the following command:

player.placeatme 00180F18

This will spawn the ship nearby. However, because of the size of most Starfield ships, there is a strong likelihood this will spawn the entrance to the ship beneath terrain. As a result, use the tcl command to turn clipping off, and allow yourself to fly to the ship’s entrance. If you open the door from the inside, you’ll be able to board and commandeer the newly spawned Starborn Guardian. If the door is locked, use the unlock command on the door to bypass the lock.
