House Va’ruun is a divided Starfield faction to say the least. During the Serpent’s Crusade, the whole of House Va’ruun was engaged in a holy war against the Settled Systems. It was only when the leader of House Va’ruun was deposed by a moderate that the Serpent’s Crusade came to an end, and House Va’ruun became an established cornerstone of the government of the Settled Systems. However, large groups of zealots refused the peace agreement, and continue fighting their holy war.

This collection of Starfield Va’ruun Heretic Writings is considered illegal throughout the Settled Systems. However, as these writings are not readable, it is impossible to say why they are considered contraband.

It could be that these writings contradict the peace agreement, and calls on others zealots to return to the Serpent’s Crusade.

Alternatively, we theorize that the writings contain excerpts of The Pilgrim. The House Va’ruun NPC you encounter prior to finding Pilgrim’s Rest tells of a prophet known as The Heretic whom delivered an unusual prophecy to the then leader of House Va’ruun before being executed. Perhaps, then, the Va’ruun Heretic Writings contain The Heretic’s prophecy and warning, which is why House Va’ruun themselves, and the Settled Systems by extension, consider these writings to be contraband.

The Starfield Va’ruun Heretic Writings is one of many Starfield items found in the Settled Systems. Classed as Contraband, a single Va’ruun Heretic Writings has a mass of 2.0 and a credit value of 1500.

Be careful when picking up or carrying Va’ruun Heretic Writings as it is classified as Contraband. Starfield contraband items are illegal by nature and will be flagged by system scans should you enter a monitored system like Alpha Centauri, Cheyenne, Sol, or Volii.
