Further Into the Unknown is a Starfield Main quest. Like all other Starfield missions, you can find the full details of Further Into the Unknown in your mission log, and you can easily find your next objective location by following the quest marker, or by entering the scanner mode and following Starfield’s breadcrumb trail.

Further Into the Unknown is preceded by Starborn, and followed by Short Sighted.

With the emergence of the Starborn posing more questions than answers, it’s time to find more Artifacts. Speak with Vlad, then head over to Indum III-a and Eridani VIII-c.

Further Into the Unknown objectives

Most Starfield missions consist of several objectives that you must complete to advance the quest. As you complete each objective, your journal will be updated with the next objective.

Further Into the Unknown mission console commands

If you just want to start the Further Into the Unknown mission, all you need to do is enter the following Starfield console command to begin:

startquest 00017CE8

Be warned that attempting to start a quest that requires specific triggers or hidden markers can result in game instability, so it is recommended you save your game before trying any commands. If however you are encountering a Starfield bug that prevents the mission from advancing, you might want to try the following:

resetquest 00017CE8

The above command will completely reset a quest (make sure you save your game beforehand in case it causes a crash to desktop). It also has the potential to prevent that quest from ever completing, meaning you’ll need to use the completequest 00017CE8 command to progress.

Further into the Unknown walkthrough

1. Talk to Vladamir at The Lodge in New Atlantis. He’ll give you locations he believes could hold Artifacts. You can complete either of the two objectives below in any order.
   • Head to Aranae I. Land at the abandoned outpost. Clear out the Spacers. Follow the waypoint to enter the helium-3 extraction site. Continue to follow the waypoints through the cave, taking out spacers as you go. As you near the Artifact, prepare for a fight. You’ll have to take down a Starborn to get past.
   • Head to Tau Ceti VIII-A. Land at Deserted Robotics Lab. Fight your way through the pirates and into the main compound. Follow the waypoint until you discover a breach in the wall and pass through it. Follow the path and you’ll find a Starborn guarding the Artifact.
2. Once you have both Artifacts, it’s time to head back to the Lodge. Add the Artifacts to the Collection. After a short conversation with Matteo and Vladamir, you’ll have completed the mission.
