One Redditor thinks they've cracked the code behind the Starfield marketing plan, and they might be right.

Reddit is making some eerily accurate Starfield predictions right now

UPDATE: Bethesda did not release a new Starfield video on August 1st as predicted by Redditor asd8dhd, and thus this prediction has been debunked. Original story follows.

When Bethesda unceremoniously released a three-part Starfield anime series yesterday, it took everyone by surprise. Everyone, that is, except for one Redditor who predicted the video’s release. This Redditor believes they’ve cracked a secret code buried in the Starfield Direct trailer. They correctly guessed that Bethesda would release a new video, and they have a bunch more Starfield predictions laying out what we can expect between now and Starfield’s launch.

On July 25, in the early hours of the morning, Redditor asd8dhd predicted that Bethesda would release a video later that day. As prophesied, Bethesda released three Starfield animated shorts just 12 hours after the Redditor’s prediction.

Furthermore, Redditor asd8dhd has predicted that a new Starfield video will release on:

  • July 25 (confirmed)
  • August 1
  • August 8
  • August 15
  • August 22
  • August 29

At the time of posting, asd8dhd said, “It is my genuine belief that today at 6pm GMT (around 3 1/2 hours from the time of posting), the first of exactly six official Starfield related videos will drop.”

While three videos dropped at 3pm GMT rather than the one, Redditor asd8dhd was the only one who saw the video uploads coming. As a result, there is a chance that they really have cracked a secret code buried in the Starfield Direct trailer. The code in question is seen on the dashboard of a ship’s Grav Jump controls: 7 14 21 28 35 42

Screenshot from Starfield Direct showing the number sequence used to predict the new Starfield videos.

These numbers don’t seem like much, apart from the fact that the string is an increment of seven. But Redditor asd8dhd saw them differently.

“If we take these as being numbers of days, we can identify the following very specific dates: Tuesday 25th July, Tuesday 1st August, Tuesday 8th August, Tuesday 15th August, Tuesday 22nd August, and Tuesday 29th August.”

asd8dhd continued, “If I’m right, on each of these dates at the above noted time (now confirmed as 3pm GMT, and countdown videos will start NEXT week), we will see one of these videos posted up on the official Bethesda channel. At the end of each video, we will be given something along the lines of “Starfield launching in five…”, then “four”, “three”, “two”, and then “one”. This will bring us to 6pm on Tuesday 29th August, which is exactly 30 hours before the start of Starfield’s Early Access. Apologies in advance if I’m wrong on this, but I honestly don’t think I am.”

Many Redditors were astonished by both the prediction and the accuracy of it regarding the animated shorts, with some like Redditor Hairy_Technology3420 wondering “Either it was an inside job, or OP is that guy.”

While we can’t confirm if asd8dhd’s theory of a Starfield marketing release schedule is accurate, we’ll find out for certain next Tuesday. The numbers spotted during the trailer could just be random numbers as part of the Starfield UI when initiating a Grav Jump. But, hungry as we are for more Starfield media, we hope that Redditor asd8dhd is correct, and that the string of numbers they found are truly a secret message encoded into the trailer.
