The Equinox is a laser rifle used by a number of Crimson Fleet soldiers, and uses an unknown ammo type with a capacity of 20 shots per clip. Manufactured by Combatech, this energy weapon will be useful for dealing with enemies with high physical resistance.
Unlike the Grendel, the Equinox has a low rate of fire and a higher spread when firing from the hip. Per shot, it appears to deal higher damage than the Grendel. In other words, you’ll require steady hands to aim accurately, and this isn’t the Starfield gun for you if you tend to spray and pray your way through combat encounters.
We’re not sure what modifications can be made to the Equinox, but there’s a caution label on the side that suggests it creates dangerous amounts of UV radiation. With the right tools and skills, you’ll be able to do more than give your enemies a tan.

Some ammunition and magazine weapon mods can drastically alter the rate of fire, accuracy and effective range of any weapon, so it’s worth experimenting with the Equinox weapon mods to make the Laser Rifle better fit your playstyle.

You can find base and upgraded versions of the Equinox randomly in a number of containers, as loot from defeated enemies, and in several NPC inventories.
