Unearthed

Unearthed is a mission you can find and complete in Starfield.

Unearthed
Given By The Emissary
Location Scorpius
XP Reward 4500

Unearthed overview

Unearthed is a Starfield Main quest. Like all other Starfield missions, you can find the full details of Unearthed in your mission log, and you can easily find your next objective location by following the quest marker, or by entering the scanner mode and following Starfield’s breadcrumb trail.

Unearthed is preceded by In their Footsteps, and followed by Final Glimpses.

The two Starborn, The Emissary and The Hunter, have very different outlooks on the grand cycle that plays out across the universe and every parallel version of it there is. The Emissary gives you the key to find out more, and empowers you to find the other Artifacts.

You can begin Unearthed by interacting with The Emissary.

Unearthed objectives

Most Starfield missions consist of several objectives that you must complete to advance the quest. As you complete each objective, your journal will be updated with the next objective.

Specific objectives and checkpoints have not yet been confirmed for this Starfield mission.

Unearthed reward

Completing Unearthed provides the player with 4500 experience.

Some quests also provide additional rewards:

This quest does not reward the player with any unique weapons, armor, or items.

No additional rewards have been confirmed.

Unearthed mission console commands

If you just want to start the Unearthed mission, all you need to do is enter the following Starfield console command to begin:

startquest 002A8001

Be warned that attempting to start a quest that requires specific triggers or hidden markers can result in game instability, so it is recommended you save your game before trying any commands. If however you are encountering a Starfield bug that prevents the mission from advancing, you might want to try the following:

resetquest 002A8001

The above command will completely reset a quest (make sure you save your game beforehand in case it causes a crash to desktop). It also has the potential to prevent that quest from ever completing, meaning you’ll need to use the completequest 002A8001 command to progress.

Unearthed walkthrough

We’ve put together a Starfield Unearthed walkthrough to get through this tricky mission. Digipcking comes in handy here, so make sure you arrive with some Security skill points and a Digipick-heavy inventor.

  1. Go to the Nova Galactic Research Station on Luna, Earth’s Moon.
  2. Follow the waypoint to the computer terminal. Read the logs you find there – particularly Project Prism Launch.
  3. Exit the building and head to the roof to listen to the recording.
  4. Next, you’ll need to follow the waypoint to Earth. Land at the launch tower, make your way over and begin your ascent. You’ll need to jump across broken sections of the platform and incomplete stairways to reach the elevator.
  5. Once you reach the elevator, you’ll find that the power is out. Fortunately, you don’t need to go far to restore it. From the elevator, turn around and look for the nearby door with the red glow visible within. Head inside and place a power cell inside to restore power.
  6. Return to the elevator. Ride it upstairs. Once you disembark, follow the waypoint to the computer terminal, and access the files within.
  7. In order to learn more about the Martian sample, you need to follow the waypoint down into a rocky area. You emerge within an ancient exhibit on the history of space flight. There are lots of easter eggs here to explore. Once you’re done, continue past the exhibit to collect Judith’s personal recording.
  8. Follow the rocky tunnel and head through the door marked ‘Lab’. When more rocks block your path to the waypoint, look for a conveniently ramp-shaped boulder that you can climb onto. Follow it up to the nearby catwalk. From here, the hallway spits you out beside a door with no power. Fortunately, you can turn the power back on from a wall panel just a few steps around the corner.
  9. In the next room, you’ll find yet more powered-down doors. This time, you’ll need to find emergency power cores. That’s easy enough, though, as they’re very nearby and fairly visible just from a casual search.
  10. Take care when you come to a set of towering steel bulkhead doors. There are turrets and a fairly strong robot enemy within. Although the next bulkhead doors are blocked, and the power is down again, the solution is nearby. A set of open doors to the right of your blocked exit contains a switch to restore power and a terminal to control the turrets. Once you’ve done the doors are open and the turrets deactivated, you can follow the waypoint to the next computer terminal.
  11. Once you reach the zero-g area, you find there are multiple paths to your goal. Exploration can get you to the next waypoint, or you can pick some locks if you’re feeling impatient (and your Security skill is of a high enough level).
  12. Search Victor Aiza’s body, then activate the switch and claim the Artifact.
  13. Exit the facility. You’ll need to fight or sneak your way past multiple mysterious enemies in order to make your escape. Pick whichever option suits your build best as you’re close to the end now.
  14. Talk to The Hunter and The Emissary outside to complete the mission.

With that, our Unearthed walkthrough is complete. If you run into any trouble getting through this level or want to discuss some of the exciting easter eggs therein, head over to our Starfield forum to tell us all about it.
